JILM STORY

T he Organization is an outgrowth of Michael Yemba’s seventeen (17) years of missionary experience which began in Saudi Arabia and the Sudan.

Yemba (the name he uses among friends and associates) came to the United States in December 2002, a miraculous event that was made possible by the U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, who arranged for Yemba to be freed from a Saudi prison where he was slated to be executed for illegally preaching the gospel and evangelizing Saudi citizens. Since then, Yemba, and his wife Rose, have continued their missionary activities by primarily preaching and counseling other South Sudanese refugees who have emigrated to the United States.

The ministry was incorporated in June of 2004 in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, where Yemba was attending seminary, and was registered to operate in the state of Texas in October 2009.

Yemba spends approximately 50-60 hours per week preparing for and performing his weekly interdenominational worship services, teaching Sunday school, leading intercessors worldwide in Spirit filled prayer and conducting leadership and pastoral conferences for Pastors of different denominations. After graduating from seminary, Yemba was ordained as an Episcopal Minister in May, 2005 which allowed him to expand his activities in the U.S. to include baptisms, weddings and funerals.

The ministry has grown significantly since 2004 and Yemba now shepherds 10 South Sudanese churches in the U.S. and Canada with combined congregations of over 3,000 Christian worshipers. Yemba does bi-weekly zoom calls with all of the churches in North America to teach leadership, discipleship, evangelism, intercession and revival, and travels extensively to visit each congregation at least once per year where he leads 2-5 day conferences.

In 2021 Yemba received an invitation directly from the First Vice President of South Sudan to conduct trauma healing classes with pastors from the various armies. The goal was to create a network of support groups preparing for the integration of all the warring units into one cohesive South Sudan Defense Force. The lack of military integration was and is a key obstacle to the fruition of a permanent peace. This past November Yemba received a similar request from the Speaker of Parliament and has conducted training with various Members of Parliament (MP).

Just imagine all the unreached people with whom Yemba is sharing the Word of God!!
